With the R4i Product Suite there are a range of options available for authors with the R4i Product Suite.

Options available include the following:

• Author S1000D for Experienced Authors with R4i WorkSpace

• R4i Writer with Simplified Technical English

Depending on the choice that is made as the authoring tool will determine what training is required.

R4i Writer

R4i Writer provides the highest integration with the R4i CSDB. With R4i Writer you can choose the appropriate training based on your existing skills. Because of this we offer the choices of:

If you have been working with S1000D for many years and only need to understand how to implement that knowledge into a new authoring tool, then the Introduction to R4i Writer for Experienced S1000D Authors is the course for you. In this we focus on to use the tool so that you get the best out of it.

If you are new to S1000D and the project is implementing the R4i Suite and you will be using R4i Writer then the Introduction to R4i Writer for S1000D Authors is the course that you need to do.

In addition to the Introduction courses that we have available there is also the Advanced R4i Writer for S1000D Authors. The content of this course can be customized based on your own project requirements.

R4i Writer with STE (Simplified Technical English)

The optional Simplified Technical English (STE) Module enables authors to easily comply with the ASD-STE100 International Specification. Validate S1000D data modules directly within R4i Writer accessing project specific and STE Dictionaries.

R4i WorkSpace for Adobe FrameMaker

R4i WorkSpace for Adobe FrameMaker has a high level of integration between Adobe FrameMaker and R4i CSDB, but this integration is not as extensive as R4i Writer. With R4i WorkSpace you do not need an R4i CSDB Standard license as it provides you with the ability to Check Out/Check In/Add in the R4i CSDB.

R4i WorkSpace for Arbortext Editor

R4i WorkSpace for Arbortext Editor has a high level of integration between Abortext Editor and R4i CSDB, but this integration is not as extensive as R4i Writer. With R4i WorkSpace you do not need an R4i CSDB Standard license as it provides you with the ability to Check Out/Check In/Add in the R4i CSDB. Similar to R4i Writer we have the choices of:

R4i Task Management

Task Management is broken up into 2 options depending on what is implemented in your organization. The options are:

• How to view tasks in R4i Writer – these are tasks that Project Managers have assigned to you and appear in your Personal Folder in the Repository Browser. In this training you will understand how to view the tasks and see the associated files. Included in this will be how you can set the appropriate status to the task when content is checked back into the repository.
• Viewing and updating tasks in R4i Task View – With R4i Task Manager (web deployment) training your focus will be on how to see the tasks that have been assigned to you, how to update the task in the R4i Task Manager Portal and how to Check out/Check in the required files.
