ANZAC
Every Australian, whether born here or one of the many immigrants that move to our big continent, knows the power of that word. ANZAC. The formation of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps was a First World War army corps of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force. It was formed in Egypt in December 1914, and operated during the Gallipoli campaign. The youth of our nations carried the ANZAC name in both WW1 and WW2 and the ANZAC spirit has continued with our Australian and New Zealand Defense forces to this day.
ANZAC Day
Two sacred words. We are a laid back bunch, the “Aussies” and our “Kiwi” brothers from the land of the long white cloud. We love our sport, compete over anything and will enjoy a joke at each other’s expense given the opportunity. But on April the 25th, ANZAC Day, our two Commonwealth countries unite in a shared sacred remembrance of the sacrifice, mateship and bravery of those who gave their lives so we can live free.
The Ode
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
