It’s mid-December, 35 degrees Celsius and the smoke from the bushfires hangs heavy over Brisbane Australia. My office overlooks the river that runs through my little city. In Brisbane, the river impacts everyone. You either need to drive over it, walk across it or catch a ferry on it. The river is part of everyday life in the river city and a welcome sight from the plane as you return home from another long haul business trip.

As 2019 draws to a close I can say it’s been a very busy year for the ADG and OneStrand teams. Year on year growth, new products and busy conferences have made this year fly by. My team are looking forward to a well-earned Christmas break to spend time with family and friends. These amazing people are a powerhouse of creativity, driven to deliver great software to our global customers.

A long list of new customers has had our consultants and trainers flat out this year too. The team are key to assisting customers deliver their Defense and Aerospace programs. The equipment our customers build, operate and maintain is very cool, and so the opportunity to walk the production lines and hangers knowing we are a part of their delivery and success is always exciting.

For 18 years customer requirements have driven our product direction. This year we released our Simplified Technical English (STE) option for R4i Writer and added support for Issues 5 of the S1000D specification into the R4i Product Suite. Our biggest request and goal for 2019 was the Integration of R4i CSDB with Pennant’s OmegaPS LSA database via R4i LTS (LPD to S1000D). These tools will assist customers to automate content creation and deliver consistent information from Engineering Design and Configuration to Operation and Maintenance in the field.

For anyone who was fortunate enough to attend the S1000D User Forum in London this year would not have been able to miss the OneStrand Team!  Our “Rosie the Riveter” outfits and Old to Modern Technology theme certainly gained us a lot of attention. The OneStrand USB planes were also a “flying success”, although they did not actually fly, unlike the giveaway prize on our stand. J It was great catching up with industry colleagues, customers and partners from around the globe, along with the opportunity to meet some delegates that were new to S1000D this year.

While 2019 has taken me to the river Thames in London, the Vltava in Prague and the Main in Frankfurt, watching a “CityCat” ferry powering up the Brisbane River never gets old.

To our customers and partners, I hope you have a wonderful, safe and restful Christmas and an exciting 2020 New Year’s celebration, with some well-deserved downtime on your local river too, wherever that may be!
